About Materials

The finest quality materials from Hirota, in cotton, pinack, and polyester. Choose the one that's right for you.

Medium Weight - MH-11

100% of the finest selected cotton. A cost effective and durable option for your suit.

Heavy Weight - MH-10

100% of the finest selected cotton. Slightly thicker than the medium weight suit.

Very heavy weight - #163

100% cotton – This is the heaviest material from Hirota.

Takumi Kata

This is similar to the Pinack Kata but the weave is harder so the suit keeps the shape of your body and has a good snapping effect.

Tsubasa Kumite

100 % Polyester. This is an ultralight Hirota material, that the Kumite National Team is wearing at the moment. It is good for competition because it is slightly rough on the reverse and so does not stick. Also this material can stretch diagonally by 5%. It may be a little transparent when perspiring during hard training.

Pinack

Pinack is a material specifically designed by Hirota. With their knowledge and expertise, they have researched the precise number of vertical and horizontal threads needed to create the optimal finish.

Pinack Kumite

  • A very light material, but very strong.
  • Designed to make you more aerodynamic.
  • Good for hot climates.
  • Easy to wash.
  • Quick to dry.
  • Very light to carry around.

As your technique improves you will notice that this material will give you a good and sharp thrust when delivering moves.

Pinack Kata

  • Slightly heavier than the Pinack Kumite.
  • Light material, but very strong.
  • Easy to wash.
  • Quick to dry.
  • Still light to carry around.

As your technique improves you will notice that this material gives you a good and sharp thrust/snap when delivering your moves.

Please stretch out flat before measuring

JacketTrousersHigh waist trousers

Table

All sizes are in centimeters

Assuming you order the correct size the arm sleeve length will fall one third up between the wrist and the elbow. The leg length will be just above the ankle.

If you like wearing a shorter sleeve and shorter trousers Ichiban recommend you order a part made to measure suit (giving exact dimensions of sleeves and legs). The sizes go according to the person’s height. Every person comes in different shapes and sizes, therefore Ichiban has created the above chart to assist you in choosing the correct size.  Please note that this is only a guideline. Diamensions may vary slightly from one batch to another. Please e-mail Ichiban if you need further assistance.

Belt length

Belt

When the belt is made up, lift both ends and ensure that they do not pass your chin.
This is to prevent it from slapping your face when kicking.

To assist you could apply the following formula:

for the Regular belt (4cm width) :
• (Waist in cm) x 2 + 110 to 120 cm (depending on if you want a standard length belt or long hanging belt. This can in turn be dependent on the amount of embroidery.)

for the Wide belt (4.5cm width):
• (waist in cm) x 2 + 120 to 130cm (depending on if you want a standard length belt or long hanging belt. This can in turn be dependent on the amount of embroidery.)
